The Waiting opus 20 sonata for violin and piano by D de Williencourt

20,00

Reference EFA 116

The sonata Opus 20 : " Waiting " for violin and piano is composed of 3 movements Duration 16 mn

3 movements: Waiting - Passionately melancholic, Passacaglia and Double Trio - furiously plaintive, Final - a little faster.

The idea of a sonata for violin and piano was born in Saint Petersburg in May 2013.

I had just listened to Debussy's sonata played masterfully by Gérard Poulet and Patrick Zygmanovski, and why not pay tribute to Claude de France, 100 years after the creation of his famous sonata in 1917? It was dedicated to Gaston Poulet. I dedicate L'Attente to his son Gérard Poulet and to the pianist Patrick Zygmanovski. Artistic director of Festiv'en Aquitaine, he had the idea of this double tribute.

Based on the theme of waiting, this sonata in 3 movements seeks a melancholic melody that we discover during the movement and which finds its realization in a simple phrase harmonized in the French style. To stretch the time, the time of waiting, the passacaglia is ornamented with a long pedal of D. The 2 trios and the variations take up its theme by metamorphosing it, faster, less lively, furious, plaintive... in a poetic and random way.

World premiere in Japan on October 3, 2015 as part of " The White Night in Kyoto " by Gérard Poulet and Yori Kawashima. National premieres in Sofia/Bulgaria in November 2015 (Gérard Poulet, Milena Mollova) in Newcastle/UK in June 2016 (Gérard Poulet, Patrick Zygmanovsky), in Paris/France at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in May 2017 (Gérard Poulet, Emile Naoumoff).
