Composer, Chaya Arbel was born in Nuremberg in 1921 and died in 2007 in Israel where she lived since 1936 when she emigrated to this country where she is considered the best woman composer of classical music. She studied composition with Leon Schidlowski and composed many works for orchestra. In 1990 she was awarded the Israeli ACUM prize.
